Woman who insulted children of Brazilian actors arrested for insulting GNR

Costa da Caparica GNR soldiers who rushed to the Clássico Beach Club restaurant on Saturday, where the children of Brazilian actors Giovanna Ewbank and Bruno Gagliasso had been the target of racist abuse from a woman, were also insulted when attempted to identify the suspect.

The author of the racist insults against minors was arrested for insulting the military and summoned this Monday before the public prosecutor. The couple Giovanna Ewbank and Bruno Gagliasso have already filed a complaint with the GNR post of Costa da Caparica against the 57-year-old woman and the procedure is also underway with the Public Prosecutor.

The case unfolded on Saturday and was widely publicized on social networks by Brazilian actors. GNR soldiers rushed to the Clássico Beach Club restaurant in Costa da Caparica, called for a situation of contempt and were questioned by the couple, on holiday in Portugal, who denounced racist insults uttered by a woman against his children, Titi and Bless, aged nine and seven. According to the actors, the woman who insulted the children told them to go back to Africa and Brazil. “Portugal is not a place for you”, the children will have heard.

The elements of the GNR identified the victims, with a view to a subsequent filing of a complaint and the opening of a criminal file by the complainants, while they themselves were the target of insults from the suspicious. The moment, which several people witnessed, took place outside the premises of the restaurant, when guards accompanied the suspect to be identified.

The woman was then arrested for insulting the GNR army and taken to the Costa da Caparica post. He was released with the obligation to appear on Monday at the public prosecutor’s office, where he will present his defense. The process will then follow legal procedures and the woman can be tried for insulting the GNR.

On Sunday, the couple filed an official complaint at the Costa da Caparica station against the suspect. The complaint was transmitted to the public prosecutor, who should add it to the file of insults to the soldiers. Although the two cases took place at different times, they are linked.

“Pain and Outrage”

However, in an interview with TV Globo, Giovanna and Bruno spoke about the episode they suffered at the Portuguese restaurant, where it is common to go precisely because they “always find a lot of black people”. “We think it’s important for our children,” said Giovanna Ewbank.

“My wife’s cry was a cry of pain, but also of outrage,” the actor told presenter Maju Coutinho, referring to a video circulating on social media in which the actress can be seen calling the woman who insulted her children. .of “disgusting racist”.

If they were silent in the face of insults, they would be in collusion, Bruno considered, encouraging everyone to fight racism on a daily basis. “Don’t be silent, don’t pretend you didn’t hear. Speak up, report it, it’s a crime and people must be held accountable,” he said.
