ConnectedRide Com U1: universally compatible BMW communication system

Talking to the passenger or other group members while driving, listening to music together, making calls or following instructions from the navigation system: BMW’s new ConnectedRide Com U1 communication system offers it all via Bluetooth technology or Mesh 2.0. .

BMW’s intercom still does not do without the antenna

The new ConnectedRide Com U1 features a modern design, is universally compatible and can be mounted on helmets such as the BMW Motorrad StreetX, GS Pure and San Paolo. Punchy audio performance, high-quality sound and excellent wearing comfort are guaranteed by the HD speakers, which are very easy to insert into the helmet. In addition, the ConnectedRide Com U1 is equipped with an FM radio that allows you to reach up to ten stations. To search for channels, all you have to do is press a button or, alternatively, use the free “Com U1” app.

The entire operation of the ConnectedRide Com U1 is done intuitively via four buttons or, alternatively, via the app, which also offers several configuration options. Depending on the mode, different functions can be activated by voice command. Voice control is available in eight languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. If your smartphone is directly connected to the communication system, you can easily access digital voice assistants using voice control.

The intelligent audio mixing ensures particularly high communication comfort. For example, if you are talking via the Bluetooth intercom and a navigation alert arrives at the same time, the intercom volume will automatically be reduced.

When the headset is powered on, an LED flashes to indicate the battery charge status. If the charge level drops too low during use, an automatic voice alert will sound. Battery life is up to 13 hours with Bluetooth intercom and up to 8 hours with Mesh intercom.

The quick charge time is one hour. In addition, the quick charge function allows operating times of 3.5 hours (Mesh intercom) or 6 hours (Bluetooth intercom) after only 20 minutes of charging.

Six people can talk at the same time

Via Bluetooth, the range of the intercom is up to 2 km in open space. Using Mesh mode, the range can be extended up to 8 km in open terrain if at least six riders are connected and traveling within a mile of each other. For optimal range in Mesh mode, the device is equipped with an antenna that can be easily folded away. During group communication, six users can talk at the same time. As an alternative to communication via Mesh, it is possible to set up communication via Bluetooth with two participants. During group communication, six users can talk at the same time. The Universal Intercom feature can also be used to establish a call connection with someone using a third-party headset. However, this may limit the success of the call.

It is not possible to communicate via Mesh with communication systems from manufacturers other than Sena or BMW Motorrad. It is also not possible to integrate external communication systems into the group communication via a Bluetooth bridge.
