A solidarity network seeks to help Juliett Neto Zeppe, 31, of Santa Cruz, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. A fundraiser on line was created on the Vakinha website by the hairdresser’s mother, who is looking to raise at least R$112,000 for the operation that needs to be carried out urgently.
Juli, as she is known, says she woke up in the early hours of June 10 with severe headaches. When he turned on the light, he found he couldn’t see. She saw a doctor, even had a CT scan, but was initially diagnosed with a possible migraine. During the day, however, he details that the pain remained. “The pain was very strong. I thought I was dying or having a stroke. I ended up going back to the hospital and found Dr. Marcelo Corrêa Vione, who is going to perform my operation. He looked at my exams and immediately saw that something was wrong and it was a brain tumour,” he explains.
The surgery can be performed by the SUS, but due to the waiting time, the sequelae may worsen and there is no reversal of vision, so the family decided to hospitalize privately. After another series of tests, including an MRI and a hormone count, it was found that the tumor had burst and there were blood clots in the brain, which eventually pressed the eyes and compromised vision. “The left eye, I have already lost all vision and the right eye has lost part of it.” According to Juliett, the surgery will attempt to remove the tumor, clot blood and restore some vision, preventing further eye damage. “And that’s surgery, risks on all sides, but we’re pretty confident that everything will be fine,” he says.
The amount of R$ 112 thousand only covers the surgery. According to the hairdresser, the daily rates of the hospital were not included, which already amounted to R$10,000, in addition to the costs of examinations and medicines. Juliett is expected to be discharged later this Saturday the 18th and is expected to return Thursday the 23rd to perform the operation. After that, you will still have to stay three days in the intensive care unit (ICU) and will again have the hospitalization costs, in addition to the anesthesiologist and the surgeon.
