(ABM FN-Dow Jones) The US Food and Drug Administration reported 124 deaths between April 2021 and April this year that may be linked to Philips sleep apnea devices. This was reported by the regulator last week.

A total of 21,000 medical incidents were reported to the FDA by doctors and patients, the FDA said.

DreamStation devices contain foam to muffle machine noise. Small particles can be emitted from it, which can irritate the respiratory tract. The gases released can also be toxic or even cause cancer.

In first-quarter results last month, Philips said it replaced or repaired 2.2 million ventilators.
